March 21 Meeting

 Geneie Brown passed away on Tuesday.  You will probably remember her as one of our enthusiastic Community Service leaders.  The one who introduced us to the "Bento Box".  She was a busy, kind, generous woman.  Although her health had not permitted her to drive out to Rio Ranch for our meetings for the last couple of years, I am told her hands were not idle!  She loved windchimes, her children and grandchildren and doing things for others.   Thanks to many of you who sent her a card in the last couple of weeks.

 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 27 at 11 am at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo NE.

Update on March 15

Hello ladies,

 

I just heard from Linda Littman, she is very sick with pneumonia.  Consequently, she won't be able to teach her purse class this week.  We'll reschedule it for the first April meeting. 

 

It's so beautiful out today, I hope you'll find time for a walk, or some yardwork.

March 15 Meeting

Good Morning Ladies,     This Thursday is our meeting, and what a fun one it will be. We have lots going on.       Linda will be teaching her drawstring purse class. Be sure to come prepared with all your supplies. You probably won't need a lunch, but you might want to bring a snack.       We will begin taking signups for the "Spring" retreat that will be in June this year. Come see the samples and pick a class that you'll enjoy.       Vicki will be selling tickets and checking out tickets for the crazy quilt. Just a reminder, this is our fundraising quilt for the year. This money pays for lots of the fun things we do at Thimbleweeds, like programs, community service, coffee and tea, copies of patterns, and other extras we all enjoy. I hope you'll check out a package of 10 tickets to sell to your friends and family. If you have a group meeting where you can sell tickets, we can let you take the quilt along. Thanks Vicki for working on this project.       The community service ladies have asked us each to contribute at least one 12" red/white and blue block.  Let's surprise them with loads of these blocks they can use for an upcoming project.  Colleen and I made a few in just a couple of hours with left over scraps.       Newsletter stuff is due to Rosemary this Friday.       If you have a chance, be sure and see the Rio Rancho in the Albuquerque Journal from Saturday. Community Service Cancelled

If you were planning to come to Bob's tomorrow [Wednesday, March 7th] don't! It's been cancelled. Lucy is sick, Robin has to work and it's my hubby's 71 birthday. I was planning to help set up and the leave to spend the day with Ron. So we'll try it again another time, we'll let you know when. Sue Harris
